Breakfast at Sunrise

President's Report

Breakfast at Sunrise this month was a high energy event!

Scott Millar from Bop Industries shared his perspective on where the future of business was moving to and it was insightful, engaging and potentially a bit confronting.
Those of us who employ, will be interested to know that Gen Z are not driven to pursue money as much as they want purpose and connection.
Gen Z are also the first generation who've never known a life without wifi and connectivity.
Combine this together and you have a generation of young people who are coming up with new and creative ways to solve the world's problems.
  • Year 9s in Rockhampton are working with the cattle farmers, developing cuting-edge marketing tactics to help farmers spread their message and increase engagement.
  • A Year 10 student on the Sunshine Coast has developed a natural solution to help those with Anxiety and Depression.
  • Year 10s in Hervey Bay are combatting pollution in Waterways using technology.
In this brave new world, large global companies are actively engaging with young entrepreneurs to help them solve challenges that more traditional ways of thinking have to yet been able to do successfully.

Small Business is a Big Deal: It's time Small Business had a bigger voice
Small Business contributes so much to Australian jobs, Australia’s economy and even our way of life.

3 things Small Business and millions of Australian workers need from the next Federal Government:

  1. Help employers and employees work better together.
  2. Deliver affordable, reliable energy with lower emissions.
  3. Stop the collapse in skills.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry has released its policy manifesto for the 2019 Federal Election. It's well worth a read.
