Business at Sunrise
What a wonderful breakfast event we had this month.
We were blessed to have Maree Adshead (QLD Small Business Champion), Terri Cooper (Small Business Liason Officer, BCC), Paul Brand (CEO, Small Business Expos), Tanya Meessmann (Founder, Fuel Girl-Shaped Flames).
With many events this past week to celebrate International Women's Day, I was proud to see so may of young women from our school communities attendance last Tuesday.
Each speaker communicated valuable lessons and business wisdom gained through a variety of tough business and personal experiences which were both inspiring and practical to implement.
The key messages from the panel were
- Network! Network! Network! All four women credited opportunities and business successes to come directly from the networks they had built, and continue to build.
- Collaboration is a critical business skill for the new economy. Whilst it's not necessarily easy to collaborate or find willing collaborators, the power when you get it right is worth the struggle.
- And especially for our young entrepreneurs in attendance, the message was clear - expect your path to achievement will be a zig-zag, not a straight line.
Next month I am thrilled to have Neil Glentworth present for us on an incredibly pertinent discussion for all business owners - how to provide customer excellence in the modern economy.
